And, of course, the food! You can’t forget the fantastic food, from the jambalaya to the beignets. There’s the jazz culture-found on every street corner, with live performances all the time. There’s the voodoo culture and the vampire lore (spawned in part by prolific author Anne Rice and her Interview with a Vampire). There are the bayous-with all their spooky mystery and lush beauty (and maybe a ‘gator or two!). There is, of course, New Orleans and Mardis Gras, that fantastic city and celebration overrun with decadence, no-holds-barred fun, and an experience like none other. When you think of traveling in Louisiana, or when you just think of Louisiana in general, a few things come to mind.
